THE HEART OF THE FATHER

2 Samuel 9:1 And David said, Is there yet any that is left of the house of Saul, that I may shew him kindness for Jonathan's sake?
A true revelation of who God is will make your walk with Him very effective and an enjoyable journey of faith. On the other hand, if you have a false and twisted perspective of God, your walk with Him will be very difficult, that of a burden and hard loads to carry. The truth is, you will greatly suffer and never walk in the fullness of the blessing of the gospel of grace.
Our opening scripture reveals to us the heart of our heavenly Father. David here is a picture of God the Father while Jonathan is a picture of Christ and Mephibosheth is a picture of the church or humanity. One day while David sat in his house, he remembered the covenant he cut with Jonathan and exclaimed, who is left in the house of Saul that I may show him kindness for Jonathan’s sake?
David wasn’t looking for Saul’s descendants to wipe them out due to Saul's wickedness and foolishness. Rather, he was looking for who to bless. This is the heart of the Father: He is always looking for who to bless. This is the Father who Jesus came to reveal to us. I am talking about a Father whose delight is to see His children succeed, blessed and prosperous. You heard me right!
Religion tells you that God is marking all your sins and one day He will call you to reckon for your sins. That is not the gospel; it is perversion of the true gospel of Jesus. God has no record of the wrongs of your life. All your sins have been wiped out by the blood of Jesus. Jesus has nailed the handwriting that was against you on the cross. This is what you need to believe. Jesus paid a heavy price for your sins, health and prosperity. This is what He is waiting for you to see by faith and enter into this rest.
God is quick to bless while the devil is quick to destroy. God is slow when it comes to anger and pouring His judgment on men. Scripture says, He wills that all men comes to the knowledge of repentance.
This is one reason why God can be so patient with a sinner and people don’t understand why. He wants him saved and not destroyed. Which manufacturer delights in seeing his product fail in the market? I can tell you, that manufacturer has no reason to be in business. You are God’s handiwork; and His delight is to see you do well and succeed in whatever you do. This is the gospel. Praise God!
